Situated in a stunningly beautiful, remote location, this cabin conjures memories of visiting your coastal grandmother’s magical summer cottage (if you were so fortunate to have such a grandmother, which we actually weren’t but it felt like that anyway). The cabin is rustic, simple and charmingly dated and worn, giving it a “just right” patina that made it instantly comfortable. It was also very clean, so the rustic lived-in vibe was all charm and not off putting.
Not enough positive things can be said for the location, if you are looking for absolute privacy and coastal beauty. The cabin is simply tucked right into the very edge of a gorgeous, mossy coastal forest in front of a spectacular pink granite enclosed pocket beach. My wife, Newfie Hugo, and I adored it.

A lovely cottage for a peaceful stay. Very walkable to Main Street and harbor wharf. I would definitely recommend for the well appointed kitchen and gorgeous view. You can lie in bed and see the harbor and fishing boats. We had lobster every night and really had a great time.

My husband and I like to get to Maine each year. Seeing the water from a rental is a big plus, but being right on the water was the best! It was amazing to wake up and go to bed with the water and boats all around us. It was so neat to see the process of the lobster boats coming in and delivering their catch for the day. We got to see a seal two days right from the cabin and a heron a few days, too!
We knew that we’d have a small bedroom and bathroom - and we did! The bedroom was tight, especially for me since I sleep on the side of the bed that was away from the door, so it was tricky to maneuver around. We knew what we were getting, so there’s no complaints there.
For being a small place, they are fully equipped with any kitchen need. Lots of pots and pans and gadgets. We knew there was no oven, so we took our instant pot with us. This was helpful, but we could have gotten away without it.
We loved the location! Being able to walk into town was a big plus, too!

My husband and I spent a week at West Cottage for the first week of October. The weather was still perfect to sleep with the windows open and catch a nice breeze. We loved being able to walk down into Stonington to grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. Just be sure to check out the hours for restaurants - they are not the same and most close by 8 pm. The view from the cottage was amazing and one we already miss waking up to.

We had a terrific stay. The house, a log cabin, was charming and the secluded location with a private beach was perfect.
