Hosting on Airbnb is a fantastic way to supplement your trip finances while also providing travellers with unique local experiences. However, just as traveller ratings influence hotel selections while planning a vacation, Airbnb’s “Superhost” badge influences the thoughts of potential visitors. In reality, Superhosts receive up to 22% more bookings than hosts who do not have the label. But why do people seek out Superhosts in the first place, and what makes them so special? A $100 travel credit, increased reservations, larger host referral rewards, and increased exposure of one’s property on the Airbnb homepage, newsletters, and more are all available to superhosts. You must have a good standing account and complete the following Airbnb Super host criteria. For all listings on your account, your performance is measured over the last 12 months of hosting. You do not, however, have to have hosted for the entire year to be eligible.
Superhosts make vacations much easier for travelers. Guests avoid difficulties by sticking to specified requirements such as no cancellations and rapid response times.
What does it mean to be an Airbnb Superhost?
Someone who is an Airbnb Superhost provides extraordinary guest experiences for Airbnb users. A set of Airbnb standards must be met to earn this label (described below).. When these requirements are met, Superhost status is automatically granted (i.e. hosts do not need to apply).
What is the point of being an Airbnb Superhost?
Being a superhost comes with three major benefits:
- Earnings increase
- Your listing will be more visible.
- Payouts from Airbnb host referrals are higher.
Airbnb Super host criteria states that Superhosts cannot cancel appointments. Therefore, the assurance of no cancellation is sufficient to get a traveller to book with a Superhost. This is especially true for individuals travelling in a popular or high-density region with limited availability, as it reduces the risk of hosts cancelling or being inattentive.
The higher exposure of one’s listing is one last crucial benefit available only to Superhosts. Airbnb can promote Superhost properties in their newsletters, e-mails, and on their main website. Additionally, as shown in the image above, users can filter their Airbnb searches to exclusively look for Superhosts.

Obtaining the status of Superhost
To become a Superhost, you do not need to apply. You’ll be eligible for Superhost designation if you meet the program’s standards on the quarterly assessment date. Every year, quarterly assessments commence on the 1st of January, 1st of April, 1st of July, and 1st of October. Airbnb will let you know if you’ve been designated as a Superhost at the end of each assessment period, which normally lasts 5 days. Superhost status is only available to principal hosts.
